The majority of Bob’s government career has involved the fields of integrated resource management planning and climate change policy. He recently accepted an appointment as Assistant Deputy Minister responsible for the new Engagement, Outreach, and Intergovernmental Relations division of Alberta’s Climate Change Office.
Prior to his role as ADM, he was Executive Director for the Regulatory and Compliance Branch, where he was responsible for delivering the Climate Change Regulatory and Emission Trading systems and the Renewable Fuels and Bioenergy programs.
In fact, these two roles comprise Bob’s second tour of duty in climate change. From 2003-13, Bob played a leadership role in developing and implementing Alberta’s current greenhouse gas regulatory system. Other significant achievements from that era include the development of the offset trading system and the establishment of the Climate Change and Emissions Management Fund and Corporation.
Bob’s education focused on land use planning and resource economics. He holds an MBA in project management.
