Kimberly Howard is a partner in McCarthy Tétrault LLP’s Energy and National Environmental, Regulatory and Aboriginal Groups. Her practice focuses on the areas of regulatory, natural resources and environmental law. Her experience in energy law includes both electricity, and oil and gas related matters. She has experience representing acquirers, investors and developers of a variety of generation assets including wind, solar, energy storage, landfill gas and biomass. She regularly advises clients on commercial arrangements in the sector including power purchase agreements, project ownership and financing structures and various real property and leasing agreements. Kimberly also provides strategic advice on federal and provincial project approval and permitting processes. She has appeared before regulatory tribunals, including the Alberta Energy Regulator, the Alberta Utilities Commission and the National Energy Board.
Kimberly received her BA in sociology from the University of Alberta and her LLB from the University of Calgary. In 2015, she completed a Master of Laws at the University of Calgary in Energy, Natural Resources and Environmental Law.
