The poet Carol Casey writes in her poem “Joy”
…. A brief jewel, yes, but one that
stores itself in some hidden, oddly
sunlit region. All you can do
is not wait for it.
As you think about the idea of being open to joy consider how joy might inspire you in the new year: perhaps to connect more with nature, with social justice, with making meaning in life, with being a part of the village raising our children, or any other idea you might be inspired to embrace.
“All you can do is not wait for it.”
Take JOY with you into whatever comes next. Let’s leave the world better than we found it for the sake of the next generation.
