Objectives

The overall goal of this symposium is to promote the exchange of existing knowledge from innovative cellular research, through translation, to foster dissemination and collaboration, leading to better cardiovascular outcomes.

Upon completion of this program participants should be able to:

  • Demonstrate improved understanding of the benefits of exercise and cardiac rehabilitation in preventing cognitive decline
  • Recognize and understand the burden of obesity and its cardiovascular impact with the utilization of novel therapies for weight reduction
  • Recognize genetic variants may impact the cardiac benefit of alcohol consumption
  • Use amalgamated guidelines to better manage patients with multiple cardiovascular comorbidities
  • Recognize Presentation and Management of Acute Cardiovascular Complications in Pregnancy Outline a practical approach to current and emerging evidence in the diagnosis and management of women with heart disease
  • Improve the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of concurrent brain-heart-mind conditions through accelerated collaboration
  • Select the appropriate antithrombotic treatment for patients with Atrial fibrillation
  • Identify best practices for the management of patients with atrial fibrillation
  • Understand the role of functional testing in coronary artery stenosis using various diagnostic modalities
  • Review the latest evidence in the management of STEMI
  • Select the appropriate dual antiplatelet therapy post PCI

  • Explain the anatomy and disease process that affects the Aortic, Mitral and Tricuspid valve
  • Determine best treatment options for patients with Aortic, Mitral and Tricuspid valve disease
  • Recognize the limitations and cautions to proceeding with a valvular transcatheter intervention
